The company behind these pastilles, Pastiglie Leone, dates back to 1857, when founder Luigi Leone moved his young business from Alba to Turin and earned a royal warrant from the House of Savoy. More than a century and a half later, it is still known for that same small, softly crumbling texture and for its elaborately decorated collectible tins. Lemon has been part of the Pastiglie Leone catalog since close to the beginning, and the recipe has not changed much since then.
