Pastiglie Leone was founded in 1857 by Luigi Leone, first in the town of Alba and later in Turin, where the company became a supplier to the Italian royal court. It is one of the oldest confectioners in Europe, and it still makes candy the way it did then, in small, delicate pastilles meant to dissolve smoothly rather than be chewed. Orange is one of the three original citrus pastilles the company introduced early on, and it remains one of the more popular flavors in the line.
