Pastiglie Leone was founded in 1857 by Luigi Leone, first in the town of Alba and later in Turin, where the company became a supplier to the Italian royal court. It is one of the oldest confectioners in Europe, and it still makes candy the way it did then, in small, delicate pastilles meant to dissolve smoothly rather than be chewed. Negroni is one of several cocktail inspired pastilles the brand has introduced in recent years, aimed at an adult audience.
