Founded in Piedmont in 1973, Fida set out to combine older Italian candy recipes with more current production methods. The company has since taken on several heritage brands, including lines that go back to the 1920s under the Perugina name, and still produces them close to the original recipes. Glacia is one of Fida's older names, and the peppermint version has stayed largely unchanged since the company started producing it.
